Hello,

I seem to be one of the very few people who can live quite well with the existing visual presentation - and the albums i have i only share with a limited number of people, non-public.

Yet I am getting back the question whether the gallery can't be also look a bit more "modern" - in this case, masonry style: you know the OneDrive / Flickr etc. nice tile-visualization which is a bit more visually appealing.

Is there any possibility to set this up, next to the responsive options i have discovered so far? Or how could i embed this into a wrapper or similar solution which would allow that?

thx for any pointers - if there's nothing existing, see this as a new feature idea!

Hi,

Why are you one of the few who can live with the presentation?

I agree that the masonry is really nice.

You can modify everything with css. so feel free to change what you like.

If you like something like the masonry style you would have to rewrite the whole rendering of the frontend as this all happens dynamically in the frontend with js libs like at masonry.desandro.com.

Best, Michael

I just take a look at this lib. Depending how flexible they are with the content This might be possible. Because I don't have only an image but a lot of other html elements in the divs...

Hi Michael, i am not an expert on this - blame it on me being just a dumb stupid user - do you see chances to develop some sort of plugin, howto or little framework in any time near soon?

And when i say "i can live with your presentation" I mean for me it suits the purpose - yet a number of other photo galleries now go the masonry style, and also cloud services adapt more and more not only to responsive design but also a more "recent looks"... (flickr, onedrive etc.) ... yet i do not want to expose or handover my private photos to any third party if you know what i mean, but rather keep it for myself (resp. the small group which gets to see these photos, access being password-protected). Thus, such a framework certainly would also attract more people to TWG in general...

Again, thx for all the valuable work you're doing - really appreciated!

I actually have tested the masonry lib and was quite easy to integrate. And also the license does allow me to use it :).

I will add a version to the next TWG version. But it actually looks much better in the demos they provide as they always have a nice mix of vertical and horizontal images. I will create a demo where this also will look nice.
But on folders where all images have the same orientation you actually only see a difference if you resize the browser as then a nice transition does happen.

Wow Michael that was quick. Some questions:

- can i assume that the subdirectories still will be listed, too?
- how can i integrate this for one "root" directory and all subdirectories?

Thx for any pointers!

1. yes - but as the images are not clipped anymore the images for the folder are neither! So then I recommend to use a folder.png for optimal display.
2. This is actually the default! TWG does support config files on every level. This is what you see at my demos. Normally you have one config for all folders.

well with a few hundred subdirectories it brings me to the situation to have one general folder.png instead of individual ones (unless there's a script which can handle an individual ad-hoc rendering...)
but i want to avoid creating a fork as later on your software updates would be too tedious to implement...

How could i then implement your "first demo" into my deployment? or do you want to implement / provide it with the next version of TWG?

You can actually enable the auto generation of folder.pngs...

Version 2.4.4 is online now. So you can use it...

Hi Michael, i am slowly getting there - did implement the 01_Admin etc. on my site. Yet - what i see is that also in your own directory, and after the thumbs are being generated, the pics start to show from the right half onwards, towards the right, no scrollbars or any... see snapshot attached. what went wrong? any idea? CSS? again, thx for a pointer.

Do you have an url? I don't know which settings you also have made...
Can you check that all files are found?

Best Michael
