Post subject:  Sharing links on Facebook

Hi
Can you tell me if there is a setting I am missing in order to make combined iframe links work on Facebook? Whenever I try to share a link there (f.eks. https://www.hafdal.dk/legstadaleit/index.php/database/?page=s|www.hafdal.dk%2Ftng%2Fgetperson.php%3FpersonID%3DI3068%26tree%3DTree2) the url gets cut off when it is converted to HTML so this part gets converted: https://www.hafdal.dk/legstadaleit/index.php/database/?page=s|www.hafdal.dk and this part is left off: %2Ftng%2Fgetperson.php%3FpersonID%3DI3068%26tree%3DTree2.

How can I fix this?
Thanks
Rakel

I don't understand. If I open
https://www.hafdal.dk/legstadaleit/index.php/database/?page=s|www.hafdal.dk%2Ftng%2Fgetperson.php%3FpersonID%3DI3068%26tree%3DTree2

and then check the iframe url it tells me:
https://www.hafdal.dk/tng/getperson.php?personID=I3068&tree=Tree2

in the iframe. In FF and Chrome.

Best, Michael

Yes the URL is correct, but somehow Facebook cuts the URL in two, stopping at the first "%" that is in the URL:
https://www.hafdal.dk/legstadaleit/index.php/database/?page=s|www.hafdal.dk%2Ftng%2Fgetperson.php%3FpersonID%3DI3068%26tree%3DTree2

Just try to copy the URL and share it on Facebook (either by creating a new post or adding it as a comment to an existing post). After you press Enter, the URL gets converted to a clickable URL, but only up to the first %. So when you try to click on the URL, you go to a page that does not exist.

I hope I have explained this good enough.

Maybe the url is decoded there. You might have to encode the whole string one more time.

How do I do that?

try something like this: https://www.url-encode-decode.com/

you might only have to encode the missing part twice...

Have you checked in the facebook page how the link looks like?

I tried encoding this URL:
https://www.hafdal.dk/legstadaleit/index.php/database/?page=s|www.hafdal.dk%2Ftng%2Fgetperson.php%3FpersonID%3DI3428%26tree%3DTree2

And I got this URL:
https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hafdal.dk%2Flegstadaleit%2Findex.php%2Fdatabase%2F%3Fpage%3Ds%7Cwww.hafdal.dk%252Ftng%252Fgetperson.php%253FpersonID%253DI3428%2526tree%253DTree2
Which Facebook does not recognize/convert it to a clickable link, so it does not work.

The problem is also that I want my users to be able to share a link, and they would not know to go through this encoding/decoding procedure before sharing my website.
