I have linked to the JFU in the menu using a component link. The problem is that the Uploader isn't showing a login screen, so it seems anyone could upload files now.

How do I get the login screen to be shown and required, so only registered Users can use the JFU?

Do I need to also install the TFU if I'm using JFU on a joomla site?

no - you don't need tfu - JFU is the modified version that works with Joomla.

About login - JFU used the Joomla logins - you have to put the flash on an internal site. In the config you can then assign profiles to users - check the help button there about details.
