Hi there again !

I have read howto#23, and don't like it... I have almost 6000 (!) images in TWG, and my host will not like it when I upload all of those again. So a clean install will be not possible :?

Can it be turned around ? Delete all except the my_config.php, my_style.css, the counter, xml and your pictures folders. Install from the zip and pray ?

This makes no difference ;).

And you would not have to upload your images anyway ...
if I e.g. make a clean istall I simply move the files with my ftp from one folder to another - takes not time.

but you don't have to pray - this works fine ;).
simply remove the files you don't delete from the zip package..

I can not FTP from one directory to another without getting the files onto my own pc first !

you changed the names on some of the files ? I tried manually copying the files, but immidiately ran into this:

in the admin/ there is in 1.5 .config and .include . In the zip these are called _config and _include (downslash instead of dot). So... That should be next on your list :) making uupdating a lot easier..

this is what the howto for updating says:

Copy the saved files my_config.php, my_style.css, counter and pictures back to their old place. admin/.config/.htusers.php goes to admin/_config/.htusers.php
--

If you would do it like described in the howto it would work ;)
copying 1.5 into a 1.6 installation is of course different - an should ne be done at all - this is why the howto exists.

that is why I quoted the howto...

I made a fresh install in a test dir. 700 and 744'ed the dirs as per howto#1. copied the my_config.php, my_style.sss the style files in the style-directory (!), and the directorie counter/ to my PC and into the new install.

You first have to change the permissions before you can use TWG.



So I changed them to 777. Now (as to be expected !) the counter file can not be written to anymore:

the _mydebug seems to be the prob. When deleted it will restart itself and fill up with tons and tons of errors.

add: after 777 all files in the counter dir the persmission errors stopped. Now all I need to do is re-upload 6000 pictures...

you missed point 6 of the update,

you have to make the directore AND files in the writeable because if you copy them with ftp they have the wrong permissions ...!

+ the style in 1.6 are updated!


and then you can check _mydebug.out because TWG wants to tell you something and you don't have the debug file writeable!

what program are you using ? I tried Smartftp, WSftp and the ftp manager inside total commander. All refuse to do this. I have to bring the files to my computer, change remote directories and then bring the files to the server. Thus 6000 times 2 pictures on the move.

I'm using smartftp - but im only moving from one dir to another.

This looks like direct calls to the image.php with bnot all parameters set - like mixed files ...

I have really changed a lot from 1.5 ot 1.6 - therefore only the files I write in the howto are save to reuse ...
