OK this is confusing the hell out of me. I've been editing my config file, yet the default options are still showing. For example, I've set $browser_title_prefix='testing' yet it still shows as "Welcome to the TinyWebGallery." I'm missing something here...

TWG 1.8.1
Everything in info.php shows as green.

This is because I think you edit config.php.

Please read
http://www.tinywebgallery.com/en/configuration.php

There you will find out that there is a my_config.php which you should use for your own settings because there you overwrite the settings from config.php.

Ah yes, you do seem to be correct.

Everything I couldn't figure out is working now, except one thing... the system is showing a random number of thumbnails on the front page. Like, it shows a 4x4 grid at first, but if I refresh it shows less and less. Very strange. Any ideas?

on the front page? Not on the thumbnail page?

Because on the front page this number is set in the config.
On the thumbnail page you can define if it is fixes or if it uses the browser resolution and tries to optimize the thumbnails that no scrollbars are shown.

See these screenshots:

Every time I refresh it's showing a different amount... strange. What setting would do that?

This is the automatic detection of the thumbnail page.
Because of the way you inlcude it TWG thinks it has more space and adds a new row. And this goes on and on.

Simply set the number of thumbnails to a fix value in the config.

Ah got it, I had to specifically turn off detect number of thumbnails, even though I had values for how many I wanted.

Thanks!
