I apologize if this question has been addressed already. I couldn't find it in a forum search or in the How To/FAQ.

Is it possible to sort photos alphanumerically not by file name but by caption text?

In my case my gallery is of comic book covers. The filenames are not always the exact title but the captions will be.

I know I can manually sort them from the backend (and the little thumbnails there make that much easier) but if the process could be automatic that'd be even better!

no - sorting is always done by filename (or filedate). You would haveto rename the files if you want a specific order.

I would do the rename offline. with the html backend it's quite some work (or use the flash uploader!)
