Hi I like TWG very much but I find that the memory required for large images Like 6 megapix this is quite a problem for many hosting providers.

Most do not allow >40 MEG

The image itself is only a few MEG in size.

Is this large memory hunger something that I caused during install?

no - the gdlib (the graphic library) uses this much memory. Every image is processed uncompressed! means it does not depend on the size on the harddrive but on the resolution itself.

I'm working at a workaround that uses image magic right now - the problem is that you would have to install this as well.
But this will be a feature of 1.7 (I actually use this because of better image quality!) - it will not support all features (e.g. watermark will still be done with gdlib - but this is done on the already rendered images - therefore much less memory is needed) - But all the main functions like thumbs and main images will work with better images!

Hi Michael,
Thats great news.
I hope this version will soon be available.

Of course I have to check if image magic is installed on my server then:)
And Yes that is there:)
So I am looking forward!!

And there are still 4 months left this year.;)
Better find a host that allows me 80 meg for now:)
I guess I found a proper one suiting my other needs also.

Still think this is a great script!!! :

Some things just need to be a high resolution. I have an unbelievably high resolution file, thats a 20 MB .jpg that is of the topography of the moon.

... although I don't see why that'd need to be available through a gallery.

hey mrbert, I have enough server space that I'm probably never going to use, I'd cut you off a nice 100 meg section for nothing, just as long as you don't get mad if I don't renew it again when I'm scheduled to next june.

Hi Kaze,

Thanks for the offer.
At this moment I have such a 250 gig offer that then cannot make true.
But I am transferring to another one;)
I have 5 different sites that I host of which a webshop for a friend of mine.
2 of them with some adult content.
No there is no money maker in this

My new host has no problem with the 80 meg phpmem I need.
I get again over 200 gig disk space and unmetered traffic.
and I expect to use about 5 gig:)
This photo site on twg is something I just started to work on.
that will use half of it when ready. And if i make some money of it I wont forget where I git this script:)

It costs me some bucks but no too much.
