I swear I had scoured the how-to, and cannot find these out:

I'm trying to make it so that on all the galleries, they are not sorted alphabetically, but rather they are sorted by the timestamp of the file, so that the newest ones are listed first, and the oldest ones listed last.

Next, I'm trying to increase the filmstrip number to beyond 9, is this possible?

Last, I'm trying to find a way that I can present users the ability for users to self register themselves on the site, so that they can upload images on their own, and assist in Tagging images as well.

Thanks for any help you can provide, its a very well written script.

1. this this a simple parameter - look for "sort" in the config parameters on the website.

You can do more than 9 - I simply had not tested more - but then you have to edit it in the my_config.php!

Selfregistration is not possible. There you have to code something by yourself.
Tagging is no problem - this can be done in the frontend - or by putting the tags in the images and then uploading the files with the TWG Flash Uploader that extracts the tags during upload.

Ahh, I see that parameter, thank you.

Mkay, I'll look for that, I intend to try 20, or perhaps all the way up to 50, I'll let you know how it goes.

Ahh, alright, I was trying to refrain from altering the code if I didn't have to, because I'm more familiar with the php -> mysql interface, but hadn't necessarily dabbled in xml, nor ajax, but I guess I'll get my hands dirty a bit.

What I have currently is a separate user account system setup so that people can join, and upload their own pictures into the system, and now I'm just trying to make it so that they can also tag their own images that they upload. But I might just see if I can integrate the sql data to update the xml sheet... or.. what not.

Heh, I don't know all the terminology of it all, so I'm just going to have to figure it all out, this should be interesting to say the least. :3

Ahh, and I've found that no, in fact, you can't really use more than 9 images.

The script executes properly, yes, but it increases the page width accordingly as per the number of images (in my instance, 21) on the basis of the preset cache width (which is 100px) making it over 300 percent wider on my monitor, which native resolution is 1440 x 900.

So.. I'll hafta tinker a bit.

I don't understand why you need more than 9? - this is a scrolling bar with much more images!

you can use the HTML_SIDE mode like in demo 3 - there you can fit more thumbnails on the page and it still looks o.k. ;):

I like the motion that the scrolling feel provides, keeps your eye more. What I'd like, although I don't even know how I'd go about it, would be to make it so that the images wouldn't of been pre-loaded, but rather would auto-load upon being visible, (akin to the youtube phoenomenon) therefore as the user scrolls, the cached image would then be loaded.

See I have around 5000 images at once in a single directory (of a site that has over 20,000 pictures) and would like to make it so that, if one were inclined to, could browse the entire contents of the site, without having to click, to reload a new set of scroll bars.

But its still a VERY well written script, and has nice documentation in the config files, I just didn't see earlier that I had to enable the exif data in addition to the sort by date tag to get it to execute properly.

the motion script can actually load the stuff in the background!

but only ie can do this - not firefox (javascript access problem). you could actually increase the number in the config for IE from 40 to a much higher number.
The script will then load blank images first and start to fill the strip.

But you may load many images you will never watch ;).

Huh... never even tried loading it in IE, I didn't really think anyone even used it anymore in the advent of firefox, heh.

See, I'm using it as a free porn gallery for everyone to browse, for no reason, other than I feel like it, and in an attempt to cut bandwidth, I'd like to make it that they'd load all the cached files, before the actual files, thus pinpointing their personal selection, and optimizing bandwidth.

While still providing more fap sodder to the world. =3

I'll try it though, and see how it turns out in ie.
