ok, wurde gerade versucht...alle Dateien darin sind zwar wieder weg, aber der Ordner ist noch immer da, sowie gestern.

Filezilla sagt folgendes:
Befehl: RMD session_cache
Antwort: 550 session_cache: Der Prozess kann nicht auf die Datei zugreifen, da sie von einem anderen Prozess verwendet wird.

Kann es an der auf 120 min verlängerten Session time in Joomla liegen?

Keine Ahnung was der ISS alles lockt. Auf jeden Fall nicht so, wie es sein sollte. Weil das ist ja nicht die Session direkt, sondern nur eine Kopie.
Weil die Dateien kannst du ja löschen - evtl. wurde mal eine Datei da drin mal aufgemacht und Windows meint, dass die immer noch offen ist - Obwohl ja offensichtlich gar keine Datei mehr da ist.

Da musst du dann Microsoft fragen, warum die so was machen...

D.h. wir sollten schon versuchen diesen Ordner wieder zu löschen, auch wenn es jetzt anscheinend funktioniert.

Es ist z.Z. ja nur ein Schönheitsfehler - aber wenn ich du wäre würde ich immer alles von meinem Server löschen können wollen...

weil du willst ja das ganze evtl. mal entfernen...
