I am using Joomla version 1.0.15 with JFU version 2.13. I am creating a site that will allow a business to upload files for a customer and then give the customer the login credentials. The customer logs in and uses the download feature to retrieve the files. The customers can also upload files for the business. I need to make sure that the rest of the world cannot view the files while the customers can still upload and download files through JFU. I have set the directories to 777 and the files are set to 300. I can successfully upload the files but I am getting errors when I try to download the files. I believe that this may be due to a permissions issue. Does anyone have some input on how I could accomplish this?

Thanks in advance

about the download. I would not make this with permissions on files.

Use a .htaccess to protect the folder.

I knew that was always an option but I wasn't sure if I could accomplish it with file permissions. It makes it a little bit annoying for the customer but they will have to live with it. I think they will agree that security overrules ease of use and needing to put in one more username and password.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Why one more password?

you should upload download through JFU. But protect the folders with a .htaccess.
JFU does directly go to the files. So the .htaccess is only for unprotected direct access to the files.
