is it possible some how to have a different upload to download folder?

either have 1 group with upload and download folders different.
or two groups, one group with download rights to folder A, (and no download rights)
than a second group with upload rights to folder B. (and no download rights).

I would like this to allow for seperation of files that have been worked on, without the person who is uploading having to think about where the files are to go.

eg I have an editor that downloads a text file, then uploads the formated text file. then I have another person that modifies the text file for other reasons.
if i could seperate the upload and download files that would make this really cool.

how should this be possible?

You login and how should the system know what the user want to do?

If you use a different upload folder than he uploads but does not see his upload on the left side and thinks the uploads fails because on the left side you have to have the download files because you have to select them there.

btw. You should use the joomla part of the forum for this ;).

Michael,
will try to explain a bit better.
user 1, always downloads from folder A, and uploads to folder B
user 2, always downloads from folder B, and uploads to folder C

currently user 1 logs in we can restrict the folder now to one specific folder.

but would it be possible for a group to have allow an upload and a download folder to be set?

files could be displayed in one list, with directory list, or in two lists one for upload and one for download.

or even in two menu selections, by copying the module. then giving the user an upload menu option, and a download menu option.

have both folders displayed in the files system and let JFU take care of where the files go.

restrict the JFU to only allow uploads for a group, AND allow only downloads for another group.

or allow the user to navigate through the file and folder list, but restrict JFU to only allow uploads to appropriate upload folder, and download from the appropriate download folder.
actually this would nearly happen now wouldnt it if you could make a group that would allow only downloads? and restrict folder to download from? from what I have seen there is no way to make agroup that only allows a download.

You can restrict the allowed file extensions to none and then no files could be uploaded.

for 2.8 I plan to have a kind of server mode where no upload but more explorer functionality is possible - but this will be 2.8 or 2.9 ....
