Press the help button and read the section about Groups!
If you assign a menu item to a group then the profile for the logged in user is fetched. (or the default profile if this user is not assinged to any profile!)

Let's imagine such a situation: I have a site built with Joomla! 1.0.x, I want to allow registered users upload files at frontend. So I installed JFU. Then I want user A upload to folder a, user B upload to folder b, user C upload to folder c. Yes, I can config 3 kind of different Profile at backend and assign them to 3 users respectively. Now, how can I creat a menu item to let JFU work according to a user's profile when he login in at frontend? You know, at present, when I want to creat a menu item for JFU, I must enter the Profile ID, that means the JFU upload folder will be fixed to what was set in the Profile. I think maybe this component can be improved to let it automatically recoganize registered members at frontend and pick up the very profile associated with the user's username. Thanks. |

Yeah ! you are right. I had misunderstood the group to User Group. I now know that it is a bunch of profiles. Thanks. |
