hi there,

i´m concerning about a problem with uploading pictures to a .htaccess-secured folder by twg FU.
at the first picture, he is asking for a login again, although i´ve already entered the secured subfolder and TWG is in it too. this is a problem, cause these images (the first one) are not stored correctly.

so i would like to ask in which way TWG is storing the pictures to find a way to solve this..

do you get an error message from the flash?

you can check tfu_upload how the files are stored. I you want to debug you can use the build in function "debug('your message');" tho check how far your upload works.

are there any messages in tfu.log?

that you have to login again is weired - seems like the session is not transfered - do you have cookies enabled?

there are no messages by the TWG.

i recognized, that if i´m using firefox e.g. the second login caused by TWG is called with a internet explorer interface.

so i will have a lock on the tfu_upload. its may be a call handled by the internet explorer, i don´t know why for now

I know that flash itself is actually not 100% upload compatible to normal html upload - therefore there are some servers exist where the flash does not work 100%.
I hope they fix this bug in any of the next version of flash.

hey,
sorry for my bad English, it is a rather complicated topic!
I am wondering if there are any news on this topic because i have exactly the same problem with TWG 1.6 and firefox.
If I upload images with firefox i get a new login-prompt after the first image is uploaded. I am pretty sure that this is an ie login-prompt. As the result the first image is not uploaded correctly. TWG says "File is not a valid image". It seems that the first part of the image is broken.
For me it seems that this is not a server problem but a problem of the local flash installation because uploading with ie is fine.
A (pretty ugly, but possibly working) workaround could be to upload the first picture twice, overwriting the first, not correctly uploaded image. But i have no clue, how to implement this. Maybe better, but probably harder to realize is to upload a small dummy file first.
if you need any more info, please let me know!
thanks in advance

Hi,

are you using TFU 2.5 right now?

And how is the handling exactly - with IE you have to enter the password and then it's fine?
And with firefox you enter the password too but then the ist image is corrupt but the other can be uploaded?

hi,

I am using firefox 2.0.0.2, ie 7and flash-player 9.
The TFU is the built-in TFU in TWG 1.6 rc3 (either the backend one in the TWGXplorer or the frontend one in the galleries, the behavior is the same).
My website has a .htaccess and a .htpasswd file in the root directory, so that visitors has to log in to visit the site.

First approach wit firefox:
1) I go to the my webseite and i am asked for username and password.
2) I can browse the TWG
3) I go to the TWGXplorer (/admin/index.php) and I enter the admin username and password.
4) With the build-in TFU I select 2 images to upload.
5) The first image starts uploading. When the upload of the first image is done i am asked for the username and passwort again
6) When i enter the username and password (the same than in 1) ) the whole upload (image 1 and 2) starts again and uploads the 2 pictures without any new promt.
7) The first image is brocken the second image is fine.
8) Every other image i am now uploading is fine as long as i don't close the browser.

Second approach with ie:
Step 1) - 4) are the same.
5) The two images are uploaded without any new prompt for a password.
6) The two images and any other are fine.

Third approch with Opera 9:
The same as the first approach with firefox.

edit:
I made some other test and I am not sure anymore if it is an ie window prompting for username and password.
The window looks the same in opera and firefox. But a window-spy tells me, that the one window belongs to firefox.exe, the other one to opera.exe. The two Windows have different Process IDs but the same Window Class :?:
I made a screen shot that makes this point a lot clearer, so if you want, i can email it to you.

thanks

no, the size of the picture is exactly the same. I opened the original picture with a hexeditor and the beginning of the file looks like this:
Code:
00000000 ff d8 ff e1 27 fe 45 78-69 66 00 00 49 49 2a 00 | Ï ß'■Exif  II* |

when i upload the file and download it again (via ftp) the same file looks like this:
Code:

only the very end of the two files are the same.:?

not good.

I cannot test this :(.
I try to make this setup on my machine - I guess you use basic authentification?

An I can not send a dummy image before because flash does only transfer files I have selected with the file open dialog ...

Only solution would be to send the first image twice - not very effective ...

You could simply use the build in mechanism of TFU to login ;).

I can verify this on my local machine. I think the only thin I can do is really to add a kind of switch in the config. And if you set this to true I upload the first image twice ...
