Post subject:  GD lib support problem
Ok i'm pulling my hair out here....

Im in the process of installing TWG and using the installer version. The first page shows various info and requirements met or not met.

One criteria that isnt met is the GD lib support.. but I can't find any info anywhere what I am supposed to put/install gd lib support!

I'm new to this software and would have thought that if it was that easy to install EVERYTHING would have come in one package.. ie EVERYTHING that is needed to get it running within a few clicks or at least some info on how to make it work, where to get various bits n pieces to make it work and a step-by-step guide how to do it.

Please can someone tell me what I need to do to get this running?

I'm using Windows 2000, Sambar Web Server, Php 5.2.0.

Its optimal to use a package where gd lib does alredy comes with a php.

if you want a package where everything is included.

Hi All,

I'm also having troubles getting TWG back into the business.

I didn't notice when exactly the old TWG stoped working, actually in original setup I had PHP4 on my apache2 server.

And in this setup it was working except from time to time i had this error in the error log:
PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 10240 bytes) in /srv/www/htdocs/gallery/inc/imagefunctions.inc.php

I doubled the memory on the machine, but it didn't solve the problem.
I didn't manage to increase the memory limit for PHP either.

So I decided to migrate to PHP5, but after migartion the new error showed up:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function imagecreate() in /srv/www/htdocs/gallery/inc/imagefunctions.inc.php

I'm running SUSE Linux 10.0 and I'm regulary taking updates from 1 of SUSE servers. I'm not sure if this last error comes from migration to PHP5 or some SUSE updates.

Anyhow, I have decided to move to TWG 1.6 beta, but info.php that GDlib is not installed, although I have GD 2.0.32-7 installed that clearly states that it makes GDlib obsolete.

Anyone had the same problem on SUSE? Any way to solve this?

Hi,

Checked your info.php - you only problem is that you have only 8mb php memory.

what do you mena with double? from 4mb to 8mb?
You just have to increase the memory in the php.ini. 32MB is a good value.

the error you get are from my Memory test folder - there you can test which max resolution can be processed because of your memory!

like the info says: ~ 1365 x
The images in the memory folder are just way bigger!

Hi Michael,

You were faster than me... I was just about to post that I actually resolved my problems (after an hour of googling :) )

GDlib problem was solved by installing php5-gd SUSE package (however it's weird that the GDlib version is different from what it installed, but do not mind)

What I meant by "I have double the memory on the machine" is that I physically added more DIMMs onto motherboard.
And now yes, I finally found the php.ini file that Apache is actually reading and managed to set 32M for PHP.

The problem was that I had 3 of them:
amaroof:~ # find / -xdev -name php.ini
/etc/php5/cli/php.ini
/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
/etc/php.ini

I was modifying the 3rd one, and settings had no effect, whereas when modifying 2nd one and restarting Apache it changes the configuration.


Anyhow, now it works! Thanks VERY much for so prompt response!

hmm ok im confused even more now..

the GD Lib doesnt come with PHP5, I've downloaded the stuff from a website but its all in C code and needs compiling.

I just want a quick and simple few clicks set up that will do basically what I want.

During the intial setup stage of TWG it says GD Lib Support not found. Ok so what do I do to get it to work please?

I've got PHP5, I've got Sambar server, I've got copious amounts of space, memory and coffee..
the only thing that i dont have is the GD Lib support stuff...

So how do I get it and how do I get it to work please?

is the one - an all in one package even I could install :).
the one you downloaded is not easy to install because you have to recompile the whole thing.
