Post subject:  TopX Views Not Generated

Hello Michael,

I got my registration for Babe and it installed and appears to be working fine.

However a small problem came up.
The TopX views does not work now. The image count does not increase nor are new top viwed photos being added to this page.
As well the TopX for a new individual album is not being generated.

Can you tell me what switches this depends on?
There is the possibility that I may have inadvertantly turned off a switch that this depends on.

I would like to check that first.

Thank you for your time.

first problem is the the counter is not increased - check the

counter/_mydebug.out

first! then delete the files from the xml folder - maybe you have uploaded them from you local system and they have the wrong permissions!

I just checked your site - the topx does work for me.

But the counter seems to be tuned off (not shown next to the 1/x).

$show_count_views

if you turn this of of yourse the counter does not count anymore :).

btw. are you designing the gallery for blind people ;) ? font size is 20 or so ;=)

And you should delete folder_de.txt !!!!!!! my text is still shown there !

and you should trun off the tips - because you have disabled everything where they could help.

Hello Michael,

OK it is now working again.

$show_count_views is now set to "true"
That seemed to do the trick.

folder_de.txt is now deleted.

Thanks again for your help. :D

Hello,

I noticed that my site is running very slow since this issue was resolved.
I did take the time to regenerate my cache files too.

When I check on my server I see that the xml files have not been re-generated.

How do I bring back these files?
More importantly how do I get the speed back that I had before?

Thanks again, sorry to ask so many questions.

Hello Michael,

After doing many refreshes the xml files are back.

But the speed is so slow it makes TWG unusable.

How do I fix this?

My internet connection is working fine, I have checked it.
The other sites I run on the same server are also running normally.
The slow speed is limtied to TWG since I made the few changes earlier today.

Thanks again for your time.

Hi,

I don't know what you have configured. Because Topx shows -3.
The number of images is for sure not the problem - how many images do you have? 200, 300 - I have more then 2000 on my private site - no problem at all!

How big are the images in the cache? because you use really big images!
how many images are in the cache directory?

and after clicking a little bit around the performace was getting better - maybe the images in the cache where not created yet!

you have the registered version - go to the twg Admin and go to the generate Cache section and check if there are already all cache images are generated.

And be aware that you have images of 60k !! in the detail view !

I have edited this post.

I am being too much of a hard ass.

I apologize.

I am sure that whatever the problem is, we can solve it.

Thanks again for all of your time and effort Michael.

Hi,

I just browsed your gallery again - now it seems to run without problems - the only slwo thing is when the big images are loaded.

But the are sometimes 250k - I still think the big images are too big because I have a 1400x1050 screen and still have to scroll almost half the way down.

Hello Michael,

I know the images a very big but for the last week it was loading at very good speed.

Right now I can not get it to load at all on my end.

I have put in a ticket with my hosting company as well.
They seem to think that there might be a problem with the permission set
and security on the server. I am still waiting for some sort of conclusion from them.

Althought this only occured after I installed the license file.
However removing the file does not speed it up.

I am still working on it if you think of any thing please let me know.

Thanks again

I'm browsing the site right now - and the speed for me is really fine -

and I browsed almost every folder ;).

a thumbview load ~ 1-2 sec.

a detail image 1-2 sec to generate - 2-3 sec to load a 140 k file.

And you should disable the tips! they don't have any use if you disable most of the features! - and you should enable DHTML! then the background loading is much better! - but this only works if the thumbtrip is available ...

you could use very small images for the thumbstrip (e.g. only 50x50) - this can be set seperatly.

if you like to see the dhtml : add &twg_dhtml_nav=true&twg_bignav=true
to the url if you watch a detail image! - the only problem is that vertical images are centered in the available view to avoid jumping of the thumbstrip...

Hello,

Yes the speed is back. :D
I hope it lasts.

I know most of the features are turned off.
This is done intentionally.

The tips if you notice are links to affilate programs.
Again this is intentional.

Thanks for checking it out.

The only problem that I still need to resolve is link back that is posted here:
http://tinywebgallery.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=640

So I think we should close this thread and move to the next one.
If there are any others issues involving permissions of TWG and speed I will let you know in the other topic or post to a new topic.
I am still waiting for my hosting company's final reply.
Please let me know if this is a good idea.

Thanks
