Post subject: | TWG on home server slow |
I have nginx running on ubuntu 12.04 on a local server. My page load times are really slow. Is there any way I can speed this up? I am just testing right now, I plan to notify my users when everything is up and running (read: family). I have wandered through the FAQs and howtos, and changed some settings, netting a slight speed increase. But not really where I want it to be. Is there a 'detailed' configuration write-up on the options available, their settings, and what they do? I can supply the url, and my config files if requested |

There is a howto about optimizing TWG for speed. But you could provide some more details like how many images/folder you have and so on... Best, Michael |

Currently, it is browsing through my entire photo collection. BUT, I am going to strip alot of them out when I actually publish the site. The entire structure is only 2 or 3 folders deep. Folder stats as reported by windoze: 4,569 Files, 69 Folders = 13.1Gb on disk. My configuration is as follows: TWG installation check for TWG 1.8.9 PHP version >= 4.3.0 Yes (5.3.10-1ubuntu3.6) - XML support Available - GD lib support Available - GD lib >= 2.0 Yes (2.0) - imagecreatetruecolor Available - Memory limit Very Good (128M) - Max resolution ~ 5089 x 3821 - Rotate available Available - Text watermark Available - Remote jpg support Available - File Uploads Available - Upload max filesize 32M (howto) Session Available - session.save_path /var/lib/php5 Javascript Available fsockopen (howto) Available Image Magick Support Available ffmpeg Support Available ffmpeg video convert Available Directory and File Permissions cache/ Writeable counter/ Writeable xml/ Writeable admin/_config/.htusers.php Writeable TWG folder Writeable config.php Unwriteable my_config.php Writeable my_style.css Writeable Recomended Settings Directive Recommended Actual Safe Mode: OFF: OFF Display Errors: ON: OFF File Uploads: ON: ON Magic Quotes GPC: ON: OFF Magic Quotes Runtime: OFF: OFF Register Globals: ON/OFF: OFF Output Buffering: OFF: OFF Session auto start: OFF: OFF |

define slow. are all the thumbnails and preview images are already created? Because folders where they have still to be created are of course slow... Best, Michael |

How would I go about forcing the creation of the thumbnails, without a page view, and without crashing nginx/php-fastcgi? |

could you document how to create thumbs directly (i.e. not with the web interface) using imagemagick? I think going via php is extremely slow compared to running a dedicated batch job. Having my apache at 100% CPU is not fun... |

you would have to create them with the same naming like I do. But you can enable image magic in TWG as well! Thumbnails are created only once. So it should not be on 100% so long. Best, Michael |
