Hi there, I have setup a test twg on my home server and am trying to browse the pictures I have in the gallery (a copy and paste into /pictures ) and it is really slow, once the pictures have been viewed once and cached it is reasonably quick.

Is there anyway to get the pictures/thumbnails into the cache without having to physically browse all my folders and images ? I have almost 5000 images in a dispersed folder structure, most pages only have about 10 or 20 images on them...

Am currently using gallery2, but TWG looks much better on the face of things, just appart from this non pre-caching issue ?

Cheers for any help you might be able to offer.

Cheers

Hi,

Twg does only create the cache when accessed because it does clean it too.
autogenerate of thumbs can be done by the search in an almost easy way:

use the search and use . as serachterm and enable search for filenames - all as images viewed - depending on your browser (when is does break up) - you get around 400-500 images created at once.

Search does work in a subdir as well - therefore you can always choose a subfolder to generate a bunch of images.

But be careful - admins don't like this because it takes a lot of serverload if you generate all.

In the next version I will enhance the preloading and this will always generate the next visible page already!

and you should of course enable the cache :).

There is lots of internal caching of directory structures, image names, comments ... in the session!
