Hello all, sorry to bother you for a newbie question - please bear with me for a second. I have not yet understood on how I can set up the passwords properly. So here is my situation - pictures: access for user1, user2, user3 - pictures/subdir1: access for user1, user2 - picture/subdir2: access for user1, user3 My assumption was: 1. define user accounts, plus passwords. user1 being an administrator, the others just visitors. 2. in each of the 3 directories (pictures being the "pic root"), I put in a "private.txt", and in this i list the names according to my listing above, with "," as a separator 3. i set this: "$user_login_mode_hide_gal=true; $user_login_mode=true;" but it does not work - i can not log in any of the users. what is wrong? thx in advance stephanie. |

The private.txt from the main folder causes the problem. Curently you can only use a main private.txt or the ones from the subdirectories. I have to check why they interfere. Best, Michael |

Hi, my idea was to have one portal where *all* can log in, and then subportals where *some* of those can get in, but not others. What would be the best solution to achieve that then? |

Download 1.8.4 again and replace inc/filefunctions.inc.php. Before the main password file was always added. But you way makes more sense to me. So now it is possible to have less access in subdirectories. Before I was reading all password files recursive till the main one. Now only to the first one found. Have fun using TWG, Michael |
