I have a problem with the JFU. When I uploaded joomla into a web server and when I installed the JFU, it won't let me upload any files. It simply says "Status: Upload failed. 1 file(s) of 1 could not be uploaded."

However, it worked well when I used it on my computer - localhost

Don't know if it matters, but I use byethost . com webhosting.

I tried to search the forum to find the solution to the problem, but I didn't find it. Joompla, PHP and myqsl are new things for me.

I really could use some help.

Details:
- Joomla! 1.0.15 Stable
- JFU 2.8.1
- Status: Upload failed. 1 file(s) of 1 could not be uploaded

check if there is a log file in the tfu folder.

Read howto 1 of the tfu FAQ for more help.

I didn't see a log file anywhere in tfu folder.

Weird thing is that I can make new folders, delete and rename them; I also can delete files which are uploaded via ftp.

I changed the CHMOD to 0777 in joomla server settings and I also changed the rights of the folder, but it didn't change anything.

without any message it's hard.

You can check if tfu_upload.php is called at all. Maybe you have a redirect or an additional authentification somewhere.

open tfu_upload.php. There are a couple of debug lines on the top you can uncomment. The upload again. If no log comes up the file is not called at all. Please check this first.

Then the upload file cannot be reached at all. You should check your server log if there are any messages. Search for tfu_upload.php there.

Do you have any authentification like in an .htaccess somewhere?

sometimes you get it in the backend of your hoster.

I went through the VistaPanel, but I still didn't find any log files. The problem has to be the hoster because it worked well in localhost. Maybe it would be easier to change the hoster.

it always depends on the hoster :).

Have you tried to create the .htaccess file?

I created the file now and firstly it said "You are trying to use the TWG Upload Flash without authentication, the server login failed, expired or the configuration could not be found!"

After I clicked again/refreshed page it says "TWG Flash Uploader requires at least Flash 8 and Javascript activated.
Please update your browser.

If this is not the reason most likely you have created the .htaccess file on this page. Please remove this file because your server does not understand the configuration in .htaccess. If the flash still does not work please go the JFU website for more help."

the the .htaccess was not the reason. This help on some servers where special modules are installed.

Somewhere you should be able to look into your access log because there you can see if the tfu_upload.php is called at all.
Maybe there is a restriction that this is not allowed. I have seen that too many rights sometime cause this problem. So check the permissions of the tfu folder and check if they are only as high as needed. Sometimes 777 is simply too much.

exactly as you describe it.
Alas, no server logs available either.
If i uncomment the debug lines in tfu_upload.php and access the file directly, a tfu.log is created:

02.12.2009 13:20:47 - session id : 904bdd9b4ade9513a6594161236ad0ce

02.12.2009 13:20:47 - ERROR 8 in joomla_flash_uploader/tfu/tfu_upload.php, line 47: Undefined index: TFUSESSID
02.12.2009 13:20:47 - session TFU:
02.12.2009 13:20:47 - login: true
02.12.2009 13:20:47 - dir: ./../../../.././images

Otherwise (using the flash interface), the file doesn't seem to be called at all. Any further ideas what might cause this problem?
