Hello,
First, I want to thank you for this wonderful product.
Second, I want the users to upload files from frontend but....my joomla administrator folder is password protected (hackers etc) and when an user tries to upload, he must enter the password for the protected folder. I really don't want to give my users the password for administrator folder nor to leave this folder unprotected...What do you suggest?
Thank you,
Ravendark

how have you protected it? - is JFU itself protected? Because JFU moves the files after the upload with php. Therefore it dos not need direct acces to this folder from the web.

I'm using htaccess/htpasswd to provide password protection for my administrator folder. Internet Explorer seems to be having the problem accessing the JFU, but Safari and Firefox are fine.

Any thoughts? I'm using group access for htpasswd, and the only folder I'm requiring a password for is administrator.

IE does not handle the authentication properly (it thinks the flash is a new user). Therefore you have to allow access to the administration/components/com_joomla_flash_uploader/tfu folder.

All files in this folder are protected - so allowing access is not security issue.

I have a small howto: http://www.tinywebgallery.com/en/tfu/web_faq.php#5

but as you see it behaves differently on different systems and therefore no real solution.
