Hi,
I have downloaded and installed the
JoomlaFlashUploader v 2.8.3 feb09 for joomla 1.5

It seems like a great add-on (exactly what I was looking for)

But, I have a problem uploading using JFU when logged into the front end of my joomla site using the firefox 3.0.7 browser.

I have been through the forums very thoroughly and I believe I have configured everything correctly.
I can upload files when logged in as administrator in the administrator section of the site (using any web browser)
Other browsers like safari 3.2.1 and IE6 seem to work with the JFU in both the front end and administrator upload areas
JFU status in Firefox gives the following information
Upload started. Please wait ...
Error : io
Retry failed. Please check your timeouts.

I don't think the timeouts are the problem as it is only limited to the front end of joomla when a user (including admin) logs in using the firefox browser.

Server infos:
Server name: XXXXX
PHP upload limit (in KB): 204800
PHP memory limit (in KB): 135168
Max. resize resolution: ~ 5546 x 4164
PHP max input time: 6000 s
PHP max execution time: 6000 s
Default socket timeout: 60 s

I would really like to get it going with firefox as this is my prefered browser.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Are you using https?
Is the session storage set to none?
Do you have additional security for your backend? like an extra .htaccess?
Is SEO enabled?
Do you have access to the server log files? It would be interesting which url the flash tries to reach.

I develop with FF 3.07 therefore it has to be something with the server.

Thanks for your response Michael.

Are you using https? -- Yes. I just tried turning this off and the JFU worked like a champion. As soon as I turn it on and relogon JFU does not work as described.

Is the session storage set to none?
-- I'm not sure which variable you mean but see details below
-- Joomla Session Handler database
-- PHP session settings
Session Support enabled
Registered save handlers files user

Directive Local Value Master Value
session.auto_start Off Off
session.bug_compat_42 On On
session.bug_compat_warn On On
session.cache_expire 180 180
session.cache_limiter nocache nocache
session.cookie_domain no value no value
session.cookie_lifetime 0 0
session.cookie_path / /
session.cookie_secure Off Off
session.entropy_file no value no value
session.entropy_length 0 0
session.gc_divisor 100 100
session.gc_maxlifetime 1440 1440
session.gc_probability 1 1
session.name PHPSESSID PHPSESSID
session.referer_check no value no value
session.save_handler files files
session.save_path /tmp /tmp
session.serialize_handler php php
session.use_cookies On On
session.use_only_cookies Off Off
session.use_trans_sid On On

Do you have additional security for your backend? like an extra .htaccess?
-- No .htaccess has not been setup for this.

Is SEO enabled? -- I don't think so I have not set this up.

Do you have access to the server log files? It would be interesting which url the flash tries to reach.
-- Yes I can access these, but which is the most likely file for this info?
-- I have looked at some but could not track down where the flash activity was logged.

I develop with FF 3.07 therefore it has to be something with the server.
-- agreed, I have found it to be very reliable.

Hope this helps.
THanks again.

The session save handler is set in the Joomla configuration. Set it to none (then the default is used which is files on your system)

If you go to the config page of JFU at the bottom there I check this setting.

Seo is enabled if you don't have any & in the url.

http://www.tinywebgallery.com/en/tfu/web_faq.php#2
describes possible problems with https.
You can try to do the configruation described there.

the log file is normally access.log. If you give me an url I can use wireshark to check what firefox tries to call.

set session handler to "none"
SEO is not enabled
tried altering the tfu_config file as suggested with no success.

See what you think of the log

You are testing on a test server right now. Because every server behaves different. Have you tested this on the live site as well? at least on the same server?
Are you running https there as well?

As directed I have altered this parameter in the tfu_config.php file ( I think it is line 63)
$upload_file = '#removed_broken_link/administrator/components/com_joomla_flash_uploader/tfu/tfu_upload.php'; // Upload php file - this is relative to he flash

The error I now get is
Error : security - securitySandboxError

I realise that this is just a test server (not public WWW yet), but I just like to knock the rough edges off before it goes live.

I can try the setup on a public server and get beck to you if that helps.

For the moment I will run it with ssl turned off and repost when things go live in a week or so to let you know if the live server runs the ssl more reliably.

You're right, I should have realised this.
I have tried it with the altered path and it is still not working but don't worry for the moment. I will use the non ssl setting and revisit when it goes live (or online anyhow).
Thanks for your prompt help at least you have isolated it to the ssl.
