Hi All,

I'm using:

Joomla 1.5
JFU 2.9.1

I'm getting a 407 error in the status bar of my upload form when I press the 'upload' button

I know that 407 errors relate to proxy settings - I'm at my university at the moment and I know they use a proxy. Is there anything I can do to allow uploads from computers using proxy servers?

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, Flash 8 does not support uploading with authentication, due to a limitation of the plugin itself. This is from the help files:

-
FileReference (flash.net.FileReference)
...
The FileReference and FileReferenceList classes also do not provide methods for authentication. With servers that require authentication, you can download files with the Flash Player browser plug-in, but uploading will fail.
-

Therefore, with your current proxy, you will not be able to upload, unless you can somehow change your proxy’s configuration, such that uploading (which is done via the HTTP POST protocol) does not require authentication.

I have found a post where there where talking about a workaround. I have written to the author but I don't know if he will reply.

Thanks for your quick reply,

that's a little bit annoying as my main users will be school teachers, most of which are using proxys at work to filter their web content. I love the user interface and admin panel of JFU - especially the way it automatically creates user folders - so I hope a workaround can be achieved! Keep me posted

Thanks again!

The problem is not the proxy itself - I have proxy's as well.
It's the authentication of your proxy that flash cannot handle.

I see, but I cannot control my users' proxy settings. I need all users to be able to upload files regardless of their proxy authentication settings.

I agree with you. But as you see you are the first one who had this problem.

Lets see if this other guy replys to my e-mail.
