I am getting the above error when trying to upload any files.

I have 2 websites with the latest version of both Joomla and JFU installed, one works fine and the other gives the above error.

I can't see any difference in the setups and they are on the same server.

Any ideas?

do you have any authorization differences? e.g. do you protect the administration of Joomla in one install?

Not that I can think of, I use security from open source excellence on the server itself but this covers all the websites on the server.

Both the websites use the same extensions etc

Is there any way I can test the url for JFU?

I don't know what you mean. have you tried to create the .htaccess?

I just tried to create the htaccess file but it didn't work, downloaded the standalone version and unzipped it on my pc, however the htaccess file wouldn't unzip.

Now my website says I have a htaccess file in my flash directory but I don't, clicked to delete it but it still says it is there.

One change is now the Flash directory list etc isn't there at all!

Please try t write clear sentences. I don't want to read one sentence 4 times to find out what you mean.

So it seems the .htaccess does not help. You have to delete it manually if you have created of manually.

I don't know your server but there have to be differences in your two installation you have to find.
How is the session handler set in Joomla?

Session handler is Database

There is NO htaccess file in the folder but the component thinks there is one.

I have reinstalled the component so that I am back to the original http 401 error but at least I have the Flash uploader visible again

For JFU this shold be none as you have maybe noticed with the big warnings in JFU.

If you have a 401 you normally have authentication somewhere.

You can turn off authentication for one file... just put something like this in an .htaccess file in the same directory:

<Files "tfu_upload.php">
Satisfy Any
</Files>

I have changed the session handler to none.

Should the .htaccess file go in

administrator/components/com_joomla_flash_uploader/tfu

yes - just try - you cannot destroy anything - this are only files...
