There is good news for Flash users with Macs, as Adobe has announced the release of a new beta Flash Player update that will be compatible with their computers. Back in late March, the company released silent updates for Flash Player that were compatible with Windows, as well as announcing their plans to enable the same feature for OS X. They have now succeeded in these plans, having announced that silent updates for Mac computers are now available. This newly created silent Mac update will run the same way as the Windows version. It pings Adobe’s servers once every hour until it receives a response. Once it reaches Adobe, it will check for any available updates and if none are found, it will try again in 24 hours.
Once the Mac tool finds an available update, this will run in the background, without the user being notified or having to take any action. That means that when a Mac user is surfing the web on a site like O2.co.uk or checking their e-mails, they will not be disturbed by update notifications on the screen. Flash 11.3 has this silent update setting switched on by default, so users will not even have to think about how to enable this. However, if a user does want to receive notifications, they can easily change the setting so that they still receive on-screen alerts.
Since Adobe made the tool for silent updates of Flash Player available on Windows, the company has also released updates. One recent one was necessary to patch a “zero-day” vulnerability that had already been found by attackers. Those who use Google Chrome will be unaffected by silent updates, due to the fact that Chrome updates Adobe software and Flash Player via its own service that runs in the background.
Hi,
I already announced the optimizations of TWG. I have now added the following stuff to the final version:
New: Bookmarkable/reloadable urls are now available even with ajax and flash navigation. The image number is now added to the url with a hash. See http://blog.mgm-tp.com/2011/10/must-know-url-hashtechniques-for-ajax-applications/
Security Fix: At the i_optionen.php all parameters where checked but after a detection of an XXS attack the script was not stopped like in the index.php. I have added this there too and now the Attacker gets a message displayed.
Security Fix: If you are logged in in the administration you could submit forms/requests that where the input was not checked. Now it is done like in the gallery itself. This is a minor issue because if you have access to the TWG administration you can use the TWGExplorer to do anything anyway…
Security Fix: All forms (site and administration) are now protected against CSRF attacks: See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-site_request_forgery.

Have fun using TWG,
